Dears,
Is that true that if I use Raspberry with a battery instead of a standard power supply it will increase audio quality?
(either with Digi+ or DAC+ or AMP+)
Does anyone have any experience?
Thank you
- HiFiBerry team:
Hi Peter,
that depends a lot on the components around. While it might have an audible impact in some environments in others nothing might change. The biggest audible impact is usually the Ethernet connection. If you use Ethernet it is important to use unschielded (UTP) patch cables to make sure the Raspberry Pi is fully isolated from the noisy Ethernet ground.

Thanks Daniel
Do you know if that is the case for normal PCs as well? (the UTP cable)
Thank you
- HiFiBerry team:
Yes. The Ethernet data line is always galvanically isolated by transformers (on both sided). But this is not the case for the shielding. Therefore using UTP cables is always a good choice for all kinds of networked audio equipment.
Some other devices might not connect the shielding to ground, but the Raspberry Pi does.
Best regards
Daniel
