Theo thông tin trên diễn đàn của ACRayon thì sắp tới đây các dòng máy sản xuất trước năm 2010 sẽ có phiên bản cập nhật mới và hứa hẹn nhiều bât ngờ

Hello everyone,

Just an update to all of you regarding the new firmware, featuring Playon!GUI2.0! Don't worry, it's almost here!

We have, as you already know, been working on our new Playon!GUI2.0 and SDK4.0 based firmware for all our current products. We are progressing very well, and our team is working very hard to be able to deliver this to all of you. The original date of arrival has been changed during this development. A recent round of beta tests has been generally successful with a few bugs still to fix, so the public version release will take another 2-3 weeks for ACR-PV73100 and ACR-PV73200. The ACR-PV76120 version will arrive after the ACR-PV73100 and ACR-PV73200, since this version requires more time due to the built-in features of the DVR-HD.

The GUI2.0 sits on a new SDK released for the newer processors. In deciding to release GUI2.0 also for the PV73100 / 73200 / 76120, we needed to do more development as well as more testing. This is why it is taking longer than earlier planned, and also taking longer than for the newer processors.

Essential (Nov) : shipping with Playon!GUI2.0
Playon!HD2 / Mini2 (Feb) : shipping with Playon!GUI2.0 now
Playon!HD / Mini : Playon!GUI2.0 firmware update public release expected 2 to 3 weeks from now
Playon!DVR-HD : Playon!GUI2.0 firmware update in March

We apologize for the delay, but when you develop a new firmware like this, you can always run into issues that take longer than expected. Unlike many other manufacturers, we chose to keep you informed from the beginning, rather than just before release.

We are committed to releasing the best firmware possible at all times. We ask for your patience and understanding, and we will deliver the fantastic new Playon!GUI2.0 soon!

Br,

AC Ryan Staff
Dưới đây là một vài thông tin về bản cập nhật sắp ra mắt

As most of you probably already have read we are working on a new GUI for all our Playon! serie players. We have in the past made some changes but not as big as we are doing right now. Nothing will look the same as before, and no other Realtek based player will have such a unique GUI as we are implementing right now.

In this topic I will discuss the schedule for the upcoming weeks and when you can expect the GUI to be there for your player. I will also show you more of the GUI then we have been showing before. I will try to explain where and why we made certain design choices.

This topic is the first topic in line of more upcoming developments for the future. For every feature, AC Ryan staff will make a proper introduction post. We invite you to reply on our topics within these forums. You can ask your questions related to these topics here as well, give suggestions or comment on certain developments.

Schedule

As you all know is the Playon!HD Essential the first player to have this new GUI. This GUI will, however come available for the Playon!HD, Playon!HD Mini (all previous models) and Playon!DVR-HD (PV76120). In comparison with first made announcements will not the Playon!HD and Playon!HD Mini be the first players to have this GUI, but the Playon!DVR-HD will be equipped with this GUI first. Reason for this is that the SDK we are working on for our new GUI has not been completed yet for Playon!HD and Playon!HD Mini. As the new SDK is ready for Playon!DVR-HD we have decided to already start working on the GUI for this model instead of waiting for the SDK for Playon!HD and Playon!HD Mini to be ready. As the Playon!DVR-HD has the same media player functionalities as the Playon!HD series, we can, after completing it on the Playon!DVR-HD, easily port it over to the Playon!HD as the functions and needed changes in GUI for this are the same or less. This way we are not wasting any of our time and we can be ready within 1 or 2 weeks when the SDK for Playon!HD / Playon!HD Mini is ready.

So when can you expect all this: for the Playon!DVR-HD we are still targeting December. After internal testing and testing within our beta testing group we are expecting to release the firmware in week 52 (2010) or week 1 (2011). Please don’t shoot us down when we over shoot by 1 or 2 weeks as there can always turn up to be unexpected bugs that need to be fixed before a proper public beta release.

For the Playon!HD you can expect us to release this in January, probably week 3 or week 4. This is also depending on the core development of the SDK of course. We will however do our best to meet these deadlines and not to have you wait any longer then needed to have this new GUI on your TV.

The GUI in more detail

Now, let’s go into more details of the actual GUI. First the main screen. The main screen is build up in 4 different segments; the main menu (top left), your list of recently added music on the bottom left, your recently added movies on the bottom right and finally some status indicators in the center right.

gui_mainpage.jpg

The main menu will always have 5 options visible and the others are hidden in a carousel when you are moving up and down. The gray and white dots on the left are indicators of where you are in the main menu. The more menu options, the more dots. For the Playon!HD and Playon!DVR-HD there will be significantly more options than in this current example (which is for the Playon!HD Essential).

As the player indexes automatically your internal HDD or attached USBs or Cards it is able to create the recently added music and movie lists. The music covers shown on the main page, also the category and artist, are being read out from the ID3 tags in your music files. So always make sure your ID3 tags are up-to-date if you want to have it look like this. By pressing down from the main menu you eventually end up in the recently added music list. A simple click on the right remote control button will take you to the recently added movies list. By pressing enter, when selected, the music or movie will start directly from the main menu. No need any more to look up your latest added movies or music in the file manager.

The options Movies, Music and Pictures will therefore bring you straight to all the indexed files and will only show you the actual files and will not give you the entire folder structure. If you still want to explore your storage by folder you can go into the File Browser.

The status indicators to the centre right will give you a clear overview of some of your attached storage and if your sound is on mute or not. When a USB is attached the USB icon will light up and when a internal HDD is build-in it will tell you how big your HDD is and how much of it is still free to put data on (this of course does not apply for the Playon!HD Mini as there is no internal storage).

Let’s take a look at the Movies, Music and Photo lists as well as the File Browser as this works the same way. There are basically 3 views, a full list, thumbnail view (useful for music and movie covers or to see thumbs of your pictures) and finally a preview mode to preview your media.

gui_list_thumbnailmode.jpg

gui_list_previewmode.jpg

Within the movies, photo and picture browsers you are able to filter and sort your files. For movies you are able to sort by name, recently added, most viewed and size. You can filter by movies or DVD movies separately. For music you can filter by songs or albums and sort them by artists, genre, year, playlist, recently added or recently played. For pictures you can filter by photos or albums and sort by name, date, recently added or recently viewed.

Now this is all you have seen already before, perhaps it is now all a little bit clearer with some description next to it, but nothing really new yet. So let’s take a look at what you have not seen before. At least, if you don’t own a Playon!HD Essential.

First some of the menu’s in the movies when playing. Let me just shut up here for a second and first have you take a look at them:

gui_inmovie_goto.jpg

gui_inmovie_subtitles.jpg

gui_inmovie_videosettings.jpg

gui_inmovie_volume.jpg

Most of them are pretty much straight forward. No real need to explain. Some screens I would like to discuss however. For example the video settings menu; this menu will allow you to change the brightness, contrast, hue and saturation when watching a movie. It will change it on the fly so you can see the direct effect. Very useful when watching a movie when the sun is on your TV screen or when you are watching in the dark.

Completely different is the subtitle menu. You are able to change everything by just moving within this menu. It will not ask you to go into one option and confirm the settings and then go into another menu to change the colour for example. You can move left and right within the menu to change subtitle, size, timing, position, character set and colour.

The last thing I would like to discuss is the edit and copy options inside the player. When selecting a file you have the possibility to edit or copy the file directly to another location on the hard drive. There is no need any more for a separated copy option in the main menu. Simply select a file and press EDIT or COPY (depending on your player and remote control) and you will end up with a popup for copying that particular file or you will go into the multi sheet editor to copy multiple files at once.

To conclude my post I would just like to share two screenshots we have not been discussing in this topic; the setup and the onscreen keyboard. I will shut up again and will just have you all take a look at it.

- ...
