Sigma has launched the new version of their chip sets series 864x and 865x and straight away, our eye fell towards the claim of "higher performance" and including "L2 cache". Even more likable, finally there's GBIT support. Would it be possible to finally get rid of walking around with hard drives and players where a decent performing network support is coming up? We don't know yet, as no brands have announced no new products just yet but we believe some may be cooking something, and we look towards Syabas and HDI with our question... What's coming up Next?
I wonder if the rush towards NTFS read and write support has something to do with these new chips "as in" "getting ready to make internal hard drives writable over per formant network...". What challenges lay ahead to keep things cool as running faster must mean running hotter and it's already difficult to design "cool" cases...
The chips are tailored for Blu-Ray and premium media players or cable TV set-top boxes (hence the link with HDI and PopCorn Hour as Hybrids). The GBIT network combined with the added performance and L2 cache must seriously change the performance as we see it today as the CPU speed runs at 800/400MHz with L2 cache and DDR800 support for memory, compared to SMP8642/43 with no L2 cache and a 667/333MHz combined with DDR667, that should bring quite some performance changes...
Most technical among you will love the fact the chip comes with Wake on Lan support (if used by manufacturer) and complies with the CE requirements to have several stand By functions. A comparison between the chips is available on line in the product brochures:

Vậy sigma8643 và sigma 8642 sắp đi ngủ nữa rồi à ~X(~X(~X(
Sao khổ quá thế này.:O):O):O).
Bác nào biết đã có HDplayer nào trang bị chip này xin thông tin .Thanks
